If you're on the Bachelor of Business (Hons) Common Entry (SE400), your first two years are shared with everyone on the programme, and you only have to finalise your specialisation stream, Economics & Finance, HRM, Management, Accounting or Marketing, at the end of Year 2. If you're on the Higher Certificate in Business or the ordinary Bachelor of Business, your coursework carries real professional exemptions: ACCA papers F1 and F3 (or F1 to F3 on the BB), and CIMA papers C01 to C05. Getting Through First Year
Year 1 assumes no prior business knowledge and introduces you to core subjects across the board: Economics, Accounting, Statistics and Mathematics, Information Technology, and Management. If you applied for Business with a Language (BWL), you'll also be studying Chinese, French, German, Irish or Spanish alongside your core modules. It's a lot to take in at once, especially if some of these subjects are completely new to you, so a tutor can help you get comfortable with each one before you're expected to build on it in Year 2.
